How to dress up Minsk-style? Check out these 5 fashion markets – each of them has treasure potential.
Open Shkaf
When? March 2, 12 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Where? Squat (vulica Kastryčnickaja, 16/3, enter through Kastryčnickaja, 10)
Info
This flea market, that happens at various locations around the city, has already become a true Minsk classics and kind of a cultural phenomenon of the city. Local fashionistas come here to sell their old clothes, shoes, books, vinyl and just hang out and the visitors are allured by a good chance of getting something with a story for a moderate amount of money. This time Open Shkaf is happening at the Squat space at the "back side" of Kastryčnickaja street by the river (it's not that easy to find though).
Fashion Market at Y Gallery
When? March 2, 12 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Where? Y Gallery (vulica Kastryčnickaja, 19)
Info
If you don't find anything to your liking at Open Shkaf (or even if you do), move to the next location at the same street. The market at Y Gallery is, probably, smaller and less known than the previous one, but it is still worth checking out: you'll find a bunch of designer goods from clothes to accessories. By the way, it's held in one of the most iconic galleries of Minsk and the current exhibition "Movaland" is pretty cool.
Bolshoy Fashion Market
When? March 2-3, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Where? Palace of Arts (vulica Kazlova, 3)
Info
That same weekend you can also drop by Bolshoy Fashion Market. It is an already traditional gathering of about 180 local designers selling their original clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories. The prices vary from reasonable to pretty high, but you get something really unique. Check out their Facebook page to learn what to expect and maybe even pick the designer whose work you love the most.
Pereodevalka Fest
When? March 3, 2 p.m. – 7.30 p.m.
Where? Dandy Land (vulica Kastryčnickaja, 19/4)
Info
One of the first events at the brand new space at Kastryčnickaja. The organizers promise it's gonna be a vintage festival with a market, lectures about fashion and pleasant conversations with stylish people. The festival is proud to be eco-conscious: you are supposed not only to buy stuff but to exchange it.
KaliLaska Sale
When? March 23, 12 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Where? Cultural Center Korpus (praspiekt Mašerava, 9)
Info
A chance to refresh your wardrobe and do a good thing at the same time. KaliLaska is a charity project: the team receives from people stuff they don't need (clothes, shoes, toys, accessories, dishes, etc.) and gives it to those who need it. Some of the things are sold in their store and on regular markets (like this one) to cover the needs of the project.
